Search engine optimization is a phrase you hear a lot about.  The phrase to a new marketer can seem a little frightening.  It simply means the a way of causing your site to appear as close to the top as possible when people search for certain words or word phrased that pertain to your site.  You can have the best looking site around with volumes of content, but if no one knows your there, you won’t sell a thing.

There are over 1 BILLION people on the internet and they perform over 200 Billion searches per day.  WOW!  No brick and mortar store in the world has a drive by audience that large to attract customers.

You can attract visitors by making your site search friendly.

• Place keywords in your meta tags
• Place keywords in your domain name
• Have relative content on your site
• Place keywords in your content
• Write and submit articles for links back to your site
• Use pay-per-click for some of your keywords
• Submit your site to the directories
• Monitor you placement in the searches
• Test and repeat

Search engines love backlinks.  If you have a blog, link back to your site.  Do the same with posts on other related blogs.  Link back from social sites as well.  Some will use your articles on their sites.  They are allowed to do this as long as they keep in intact, including you resource box with you url.  More backlinks for you.

Continue to optimize your site.  Adding new content to your site get the search engines to spider your web again and again.  New articles on a continual basis keeps more and more links coming your way.  Don’t just do it once and quit.  You want to add good, helpful content on a regular basis.
