Some people try to train their dogs by punishing them when they misbehave, but this can have negative consequences. Some people go too far, and traumatize their dogs or turn them into mean attack dogs. Dogs that are afraid of their masters may obey them, but they will not obey them in the same loving way that other dogs do. Positive dog training helps dogs to obey their masters while not being harmed in the process.

It is important to train a pooch, however. Trained dogs are more beneficial to their masters, but they are also beneficial to people who are not their owners. A dog that listens to its owner may be less likely to offend or upset others. Of course, this training should be to obey commands that are not destructive to people or others’ property.

So what is positive dog training? It is training that is not harmful to the hound in any way. Instead, it is training that actually benefits both the dog and the owner. For instance, instead of punishing the dog when it misbehaves, the dog may be rewarded when it behaves correctly.

This form of dog training usually teaches a canine how to behave in ways that are acceptable to humans. This may include sleeping on its cushion instead of the sofa, sitting when a new person comes instead of jumping up on them, and walking alongside its owner during a walk.

This training may be taught simply by providing rewards for good behavior, but it may also be taught by a trained professional. Dog obedience training is a popular class that one can take with his or her dog. With this training, both dogs and humans can get the foundation that they need to foster a positive and respectful relationship.

Positive dog training may not always work perfectly. Sometimes a sharp negative command may be necessary, such as when the dog starts eating the New York steak you just pulled off the grill. However, if a dog is well-trained, this may not happen in the first place.
