Unless you have been living under a rock the last couple of years you should know that the United States economy has slipped into a full blown recession causing 10% plus unemployment rate, bankruptcy filings up 32%, Home foreclosures hit new highs and the U.S. Deficit hits record $1.4 Trillion!
But not all is doom and gloom for the secondhand business industry and best of all you can start up one for under $2,000. The Secondhand business industry covers a wide range of product such as antiques, collectibles, electronics, clothing and the list goes on forever. If it’s used it has a market!
You can even find shows on TV about this exciting industry such as Pawn Stars and American pickers!
I have been hustling secondhand stuff for years now! Making a good income and having fun in the process!
With a little hard work and learning product values you can turn other peoples junk into treasure.
You will find 100’s of sources for products that you can resale, but the best way to do this is to get it for FREE! That’s right FREE! Every year Americans simply throw away antiques, collectibles, furniture, household goods, computers & accessories, VCR’s, televisions, radios, lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners, power tools, telephones, answering machines and 100‘s of other items of value.
You can get it all for FREE by simply becoming a dumpster diver! Now I know this may not be for everyone so I will show you other alternatives to get stuff for free.
My other source for getting product for free is the internet! I search online classified ads for people who are giving stuff away.
Just last week I got; Gateway 17-inch monitor, stroller, high chair, fiberglass boat, 3 bicycles, two vacuum cleaners, bicycle helmet, 7 lamps, 18 pieces of furniture and a 1974 Datsun B210!
All I did is clean up the items, did some minor repairs, put up a few yard sale signs and boom I’m in business. Best of all I priced the items to sell fast and my take home pay for the week on this project was $657.00 (Gateway 17-inch monitor $25.00, stroller $10.00, high chair $10.00, fiberglass boat $100.00, 3 bicycles $50.00, two vacuum cleaners $37.00, bicycle helmet $5.00, 7 lamps $70.00, 18 pieces of furniture $200.00 and a 1974 Dotson B210 $150.00)
It does not stop their my friend! I also have an indoor flea market booth that is 15 foot by 25 foot that cost me $250.00 a month that I put all kinds of secondhand stuff in that nets me another $700.00 a month for just spending 20 hours a month putting secondhand stuff in it!
In 2009 my secondhand sales netted me $28,000 working part time, spending around 12 hours a week selling free stuff.
Another great source of free stuff is signing up for free samples, using coupons and rebates that allows me to get new product for free. For example I purchased a Star Wars The Clone Wars Captain Rex Electronic Command Helmet from Wal-Mart and got 3 FREE Saga Legends Action Figures by mail using a coupon that I found at http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/en_US/discover/3-Free-Action-Figures.cfm
My total cost after rebate was $18.00. So I turned around and sold the Star Wars The Clone Wars Captain Rex Electronic Command Helmet and the 3 Star Wars Saga Legends Action Figures for $40.00 netting me $22.00.
I call this one “Trash 2 Treasure”! I’m talking about stuff to get free and sell! This is truly an art but you first must understand that your main goal is to make as much profit as possible on what you can get for free!
