As you start a work at home business there are going to be a million thoughts rushing through your head.  You are going to be thinking about what you want to promote, how you are going to promote it, and how long it will take to begin generating some income.  However, one of the first things you want to think about is how to adjust comfortably to working at home.  Here are five tips to help you make the transition smoothly.

1. Have a plan
The number one thing you need to do when making the change from an office job to a work at home job is develop a plan.  With the amount of competition that floods the internet, you cannot expect to succeed by jumping in blindfolded.  You need to know what you are going to do, how you are going to do it, and who you will be promoting to.

2. Set goals
It can be difficult staying motivated and focused with the amount of freedom you are given for a home business.  To help you stay focused on the task at hand, write out goals for you to strive for.  It is important you challenge yourself while creating reasonable goals.  This is the best way for you to forget about the distractions and work towards success.

3. Create a schedule
As mentioned, you are going to have an endless amount of freedom with a work at home business.  You have the ability to work whatever hours you want however many days a week you choose to.  While this is certainly a luxury, you need to make sure you work enough hours if you want to succeed online.  Creating a schedule for you to follow is the easiest way to put in the necessary hours.

4. Have an office
Far too many people try to get away with working at their kitchen table or in the living room.  The problem with this is you are right in the midst of all of the distractions.  The TV is calling your name and the kitchen cabinets are calling your stomach.  Having an office to base out of will help you get in the right mindset and truly sit down and work.

5. Talk to other entrepreneurs
The last tip to help you adjust to a work at home business is to talk to other entrepreneurs.  Chances are a majority of the people online started at an office or some other kind of job first.  Talk to them to see how they made the adjustment and what kinds of challenges they had to face.  If anything, it can give you the confidence that you too can make it in the beautiful world of internet marketing.
